Hello Family dear!!! I don't have much to write and I have
even less time to write it. But let me share to you all the biggest answer to
my prayer this past week... her name is SISTER ARCINAS!!! I think if I could
have picked my companion it would be her. I know that we're only one week
together.. not yet one week but she is the best!!! She is the most smiley
person I've ever met! It's so refreshing to have an upbeat and joyful companion
that finds so much joy in this work, can make light of situations, easily build
relationships of trust with people that we meet and is such a powerhouse!!
Life is good right now:) Cadiz
is still amazing and I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!!! Something that I am learning
right now is that “no effort it wasted”. Even though we are not seeing or
experiencing as much “success” as I have been blessed with in my last area, the
people that we are meeting are still amazing. Not all of them are prepared to
accept the restored gospel right now but I am learning to accept that as I
continue to do my part and INVITE others to come unto Christ. This implies and
requires others to obligate themselves to repent, change, accept and diligently
apply these things that we teach. Without this factor, conversion does not take
place! I still enjoy teaching these people and helping them better understand
how this gospel will truly change their life.
"When obedience ceases to be an irritant and become our quest, in that moment God will endow us with power". -President Ezra Taft Benson May 1998 Ensign
This is something else that I would like to share. Obedience is one of the most crucial commandments that Heavenly Father has given us. I have also learned a lot about obedience as a missionary and still have a lot to learn! It has A LOT to do with our attitude. This is an exactly obedient mission and this is a mission that sees miracles!!
One of the miracles that we saw this week was a couple that we are teaching that hasn’t been to church in over 15 years! We are teaching their children and grandchildren that are not yet members and this Sunday the two of them came to church. They weren’t able to bring our investigators (their entire family) because they have financial problems but we are so hopeful that as they continue to remember the blessing to be members of this restored gospel, their children and grandchildren will follow in that understanding and testimony. I was SO happy to see them at church (and was SO surprised!) But the best part was their smiles as they were greeted by members that have missed them and their happiness in being at church again.
This work is the best! I am nearing my half way mark and Sister Arcinas is nearing her one year. Time is very different as a missionary but I know that as I continue to enjoy this work (that is not a challenge with Sister Arcinas) that the spirit is continually bearing testimony that this work is one of a kind and I know that it will some day come to an end. This church is so true and this is His work! Love you all so much! Thank you for your support, prayers and love!
PS GWEN I WILL SEND MY GUESS FOR WHERE YOU WILL BE CALLED NEXT WEEK! Ahhhhhhhh :)
Hope that a more interesting letter will come next week!
All my love,
Sister Judd
